18 months ago the RTA put up for discussion a proposal to build a new bridge over Iron Cove to increase traffic capacity.

soon afterwards, an ‘alternative’ proposal to upgrade the existing bridge to carry an equal amount of traffic was put forward. However, it would be cheaper, faster to build and without being destructive.

the ‘alternative’ would not need to be built through parks, ruining  rowing + sailing courses, overshadowing a public swimming pool and built over lookouts, across the Iron Cove waterway preventing boats from sailing in and out the Cove. The alternative would prevent all this damage ... prevent environment vandalism.

the RTA has always fought against any better alternative, for this unnecessary new bridge .... now we are finding out the secret deals that brought about this stupidity, and how the construction deal was done long before the public was consulted.

parliament is now forcing the government, and RTA, to reveal secret documents on the real truth which has been disguised by the excessive spin.
